HR: when talent creates value
The speed of change in recent years has led to a reorganisation of every company’s HR asset: its mission today is identified by its ability to cultivate the company’s own assets, enhancing the talent of each individual to ensure collective success.
A well-structured HR department enables people to connect with the company’s values and strategies: in addition to attracting and selecting the best talent, HR promotes training programmes and growth paths. This in turn creates a working environment in which individual skills are developed, inviting people to cultivate their ambitions. The aim? To transmit value and support an inclusive and collaborative corporate culture. Today, more than ever, investing in people means investing in the future and the prosperity of the entire organisation. We talked about this with Albert Dorfmann, Chief People Officer at NaturalLook.
At a time when the very concept of work is undergoing profound changes, how important is the HR department in a company like NaturalLook?
“The role of the HR department has become increasingly vital in recent years. People are the core and the engine of a company: it is our direct responsibility to ensure that staff are ever more valued, supported and stimulated. In today’s context, where people increasingly seek a sense of fulfilment and a work-life balance, it is crucial for the company to adapt to these needs – all in a relationship based on mutual transparency.”
NaturalLook has an innovative approach to personnel management. What in particular makes your company an attractive place to work?
“At NaturalLook we focus on several aspects to enhance the talent and promote the wellbeing of those who work with us. First of all, we offer training and development opportunities, with a budget dedicated to the professional growth of each resource. In addition, we promote an inclusive work environment, where respect and collaboration are key. We support a balance between leisure and working time in the company, which is why we are working to regulate teleworking, while we already provide various benefits such as contributions to childcare and tax-efficient bonuses. We also encourage physical and mental wellbeing through Pilates classes, back exercise programmes and a company canteen that serves healthy snacks and fresh fruit. These are all motivational levers that greatly influence talent retention: employee satisfaction is high at NaturalLook, while staff turnover remains very low.”
How does your selection and onboarding process work?
“We have developed a selection process that puts the person at the centre. In addition to traditional interviews, we ask candidates to take a practical test specific to the role they are seeking. This allows us to assess each candidate’s technical skills, but also gives them the opportunity to show their potential. What’s more, we make sure that each candidate receives a reply to indicate our respect and consideration for each individual who interacts with us. We try to create a welcoming environment during the onboarding process, providing all the resources necessary for a successful integration into the team.”
Considering the recent changes in the conception of work, what is the role of Human Resources in defining the future of work?
“Human Resources will play an essential role in creating the work architecture of tomorrow. We have to be quick to adapt to changes, offering flexible and sustainable solutions for our employees. The HR department must always be forward-looking: analysing trends, anticipating staff needs and proposing new strategies. The purpose? To promote happiness in the workplace without losing sight of productivity. In addition, we must support continuous training, helping our employees to develop skills for new roles as these emerge. The future of work is dynamic, and HR will play a key role in preparing companies to meet these challenges.”
Effectively managing its human capital permits NaturalLook to recruit, consolidate and retain talent, so as to shape its workforce, drive skills growth and adapt the organisation to the changing needs of the market.
